Pakistan’s PM Sharif mentions Kashmir at UN, thanks Trump — The Hindu

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, United States, on September 25, again raised the issue of Kashmir and thanked US President Donald Trump for what he called his timely intervention in the conflict between India and Pakistan in 2025.

Sharif’s statement at the UN

According to Sharif, Trump’s timely intervention saved hundreds of millions of lives in South Asia. Pakistan’s prime minister also thanked the US president for decisive and farsighted leadership.

As The Hindu reports, Trump has repeatedly claimed that he stopped the war between India and Pakistan. He repeated this claim in his address to the UN General Assembly this week.

India’s position

India consistently denies the involvement of any third party in resolving the conflict. On May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, carrying out strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and in the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir.

India said the operation was a response to the attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, which killed 26 civilians.
