South Korean President Lee concludes visit to Mexico — Korea Herald

According to The Korea Herald, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung departed for home on Saturday after concluding a state visit to Mexico. The visit was the final part of a two-country trip, during which the president also visited New York to take part in the annual session of the UN General Assembly. His return to South Korea is scheduled for Sunday.

UN address and talks with the US

On Tuesday, Lee addressed the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. He said that he sees his role as helping restore dialogue between the United States and North Korea.

The president also presented a phased approach to the denuclearization of North Korea. He named halting and reducing North Korea's nuclear and missile programs as the first stage.

On the same day, Lee held a summit with US President Donald Trump in New York. According to South Korean officials, Trump reaffirmed his commitment to dialogue with North Korea.

Cooperation plan with Mexico

Lee's state visit to Mexico began on Wednesday. The following day, he held talks with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Following the talks, the sides adopted a joint action plan providing for deeper economic cooperation and expanded bilateral engagement in artificial intelligence, the defense industry, and other sectors.
