Prince William is now wealthier than King Charles

Prince William has officially become one of the wealthiest members of the British royal family. According to media estimates, his net worth already exceeds $1.6 billion, which is nearly twice that of King Charles III.

The main source of income for the heir to the throne is the Duchy of Cornwall, which he inherited after his father ascended to the throne in 2022. In the last two years alone, the prince has received tens of millions of dollars in private income.

Prince William has become wealthier than his father, King Charles III of Great Britain, according to the Mirror. The publication reports that the Prince of Wales’s net worth is currently estimated at approximately $1.6 billion. By comparison, King Charles III’s personal wealth is estimated by journalists to be around $850 million.

The main reason for this increase in wealth is the Duchy of Cornwall. Prince William inherited it in September 2022, when Charles III became king following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. It is the Duchy of Cornwall that currently generates the largest income for the heir to the throne. It is a vast land and property portfolio that includes farmland, residential and commercial real estate, forests, coastal areas, and other assets.

In addition, Prince William derives income from the Lancaster estate, which is also one of his sources of revenue. According to published financial reports, Prince William has earned approximately $28.5 million in private income over the past two years alone.

At the same time, he paid approximately $26 million in taxes. These figures are contained in the reports of the Sovereign Grant—a government funding program that covers the British royal family’s expenses related to the performance of official duties. The financial reports also show that after acquiring the Duchy of Cornwall, this asset became a key component of the Prince of Wales’s personal wealth.

Despite his considerable wealth, the Duchy’s funds are not used solely for personal expenses. They also go toward financing Prince William’s official activities, his family, charitable projects, and the work of the team that supports his public duties. The Mirror reports on this.
