Rutte will attend the Ramstein meeting on September 8
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte will participate in a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group via videoconference on September 8.
The meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. Kyiv time. Opening remarks will be delivered by Mark Rutte, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, British Defense Secretary Wes Streating, Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara, and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense for Military Policy Elbridge Colby will deliver opening remarks.
On the eve of the meeting, Ukraine provided its allies with a list of urgent needs for air defense and missile defense systems. Strengthening Ukraine’s air defense is expected to be one of the key issues at the upcoming meeting.

The day before, the Russian oil refinery “Kirishinefteorgsintez” in the Leningrad Oblast completely halted oil refining following a drone attack on August 30. According to Reuters, two primary refining units at the facility were damaged, while two others were not in operation at the time of the strike.
Russia has reportedly restored 90% of its oil refining capacity damaged as a result of Ukrainian attacks. According to Vladimir Putin, about 10% of Russian refineries’ capacity remains damaged at this time.
