Vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz is below average — Asharq Al-Awsat
Four cargo vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the Gulf on Thursday, compared with six a day earlier and about 16 vessels on average over the previous 10 days. This was reported by Asharq Al-Awsat, citing preliminary vessel-tracking data.
Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz
As of 02:00 GMT, according to the Kpler service, three of the four vessels were entering the strait heading toward the Gulf, while one was leaving it. They included two Panamax-class tankers, one Supramax-class vessel, and one Kamsarmax-class vessel.
Reuters noted that the figures may change, as some vessels turn off their transponders during their route to reduce the risk of detection in the conflict zone. Before the conflict with Iran, one-fifth of global oil and gas volumes passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

Data on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait
At the same time, 23 cargo vessels passed through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait near Yemen’s southwestern coast on Thursday. This is an important route for transporting oil between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Of these, 13 vessels were heading toward the Red Sea and 10 toward the Gulf of Aden. The recorded vessels included Panamax- and Suezmax-class tankers, four Supramax-class vessels, and six Aframax-class tankers. The average traffic through this strait over the previous 10 days was about 26 vessels.
