Switzerland has expanded its sanctions lists against Russia in response to its war against Ukraine, adding nine individuals and 45 organizations to the lists. The updated restrictive measures issued by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) took effect on August 11. Information regarding 11 additional individuals and companies already subject to sanctions was also updated.
Representatives of Russia’s industrial and defense sectors have been included on the list for the first time. Among them are Oleg Yevtushenko, executive director of Rostec; Alexei Rakhmanov, former head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation; and businessman Tahir Garayev.

Earlier, Zelenskyy thanked the U.S. Senate for approving harsh sanctions against Russia.
The U.S. Senate supported a sweeping bill imposing new sanctions against Russia and Iran. The bill passed with 68 votes in favor and nine against, and it will now be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives.
