Sweden has allocated nearly 127 million euros for Ukraine's reconstruction through the World Bank

Sweden has allocated nearly 127 million euros to a new World Bank financial mechanism to support Ukraine. The funds will help attract additional financing for the country’s recovery following Russian attacks.

On July 16, the Swedish government approved the allocation of 1.4 billion Swedish kronor (nearly 127 million euros) to support the World Bank’s new mechanism to assist Ukraine.

It is noted that this contribution will enable loans totaling approximately 4.2 billion kronor (380 million euros) for Ukraine’s reconstruction and recovery projects.

Sweden’s contribution will be directed to the World Bank’s Special Program for Ukraine Recovery 2.0 under the new IDA Crisis Facility 2.0 mechanism.

Sweden’s new contribution supplements the guarantee announced by the Swedish government on May 29, 2026.

This was reported by the Swedish government’s press service.

The EU has allowed Ukraine to use loan funds to purchase Chinese drone components.

The European Union has approved a large-scale financial package for Ukraine totaling 90 billion euros, which is intended to help cover the country’s most urgent budgetary needs. The loan does not impose an immediate financial burden on Ukraine, as it is planned to be repaid using future reparations from Russia. For now, the EU budget is providing payment guarantees.

A trilateral meeting between the leaders of Ukraine and the European Union took place in Nicosia, following which Volodymyr Zelenskyy, António Costa, and Ursula von der Leyen issued a joint statement on a new phase of support for Kyiv. The discussion focused on a 90-billion-euro loan, sanctions pressure on Russia, and Ukraine’s continued progress toward EU membership. The leaders emphasized the need for swift decisions and strengthened joint action.
