Xi Jinping says China-Kyrgyzstan cooperation has entered a ‘golden period’

Chinese President Xi Jinping said after arriving in Bishkek that cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan has entered a “golden period” of rapid development. He arrived in the Kyrgyz capital to attend the 2026 Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and pay a state visit, ECNS reports.

At Manas International Airport, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan were welcomed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and his wife. In a written message, the Chinese leader conveyed greetings and best wishes to Japarov and the people of Kyrgyzstan on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

Bilateral relations

Xi Jinping said that China and Kyrgyzstan have a long tradition of friendly relations, and that the Tien Shan Mountains bear witness to millennia of exchanges between the peoples of the two countries. According to him, over the 34 years since diplomatic relations were established, bilateral ties have withstood changes in the international situation, developed steadily and reached the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.
