Sikorsky criticized Budanov for his statements about the escalation

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski called on the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, to “keep his emotions in check” in response to Budanov’s remarks that Warsaw was preparing “a series of ill-considered escalatory steps.”

The Polish official made this statement while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, noting that it is Ukraine that needs Western support, and that Poland has already done a great deal for the country.

Sikorski also said that he had discussed the situation with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andriy Sybiga. Warsaw’s reaction was prompted by a statement from the head of the Presidential Office regarding an expected peak in tensions in Ukrainian-Polish relations on the eve of July 11, when the country observes the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Volhynia Tragedy.

This was reported by Onet.

As is known, Budanov expressed the view that this week would see a peak in escalation on Poland’s part in Ukrainian-Polish relations, linked to the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Volhynia Tragedy.

Piotr Zgorzelski, Deputy Marshal of the Polish Sejm, sharply criticized the statement by Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, regarding events marking the anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy. The Polish politician stated that if Budanov does not know what happened on July 11, 1943, then he should “get down on his knees right there in the open field.”
