Somaliland ready to provide up to 2,000 troops for Gaza force — Jerusalem Post
Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, in Washington, United States, said he was ready to provide up to 2,000 troops for the planned International Stabilization Force in Gaza if the United States or Israel makes such a request. As reported by the Jerusalem Post, he stressed that Somaliland is not offering the contingent on its own initiative but is prepared to provide it following a request.
Planned contingent in Gaza
According to the publication, Uganda approved the deployment of approximately 1,200 troops, while Morocco committed to provide up to 500 personnel. Albania, Kazakhstan and Kosovo have also pledged personnel for the U.S.-led force, which is expected to eventually reach 20,000 service members.
The planned tasks of the international force include maintaining security, training Palestinian police, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and preventing Hamas from restoring military control.

Somaliland’s capabilities
Abdullahi said that Somaliland’s army numbers about 25,000 troops, while its coast guard has approximately 1,500 personnel. Somaliland has not previously deployed its service members to African Union forces.
The president also denied that his administration had discussed with Israel the use of Somaliland’s territory or airspace for operations against the Houthis in Yemen. In addition, he dismissed reports of alleged discussions on accepting Palestinians from Gaza as part of arrangements with Israel.
