The U.S. has deployed the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier group to the Caribbean
The United States has deployed a powerful aircraft carrier strike group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, to the Caribbean.
This strategic move by the military command is linked to increased political pressure on Cuba and a demonstration of military strength in the region.
According to official data from U.S. Southern Command, in addition to the flagship USS Nimitz, this strike group includes the destroyer USS Gridley and the oiler USNS Patuxent.
The aircraft wing aboard the aircraft carrier is equipped with modern F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters, EA-18G Growler electronic warfare aircraft, and Seahawk helicopters.
The U.S. military called the group a “symbol of readiness and strategic advantage.” Commanders also specifically emphasized that the ships possess “unmatched range and combat capabilities.”
