US announces $4 billion in military sales to Greece — Anadolu Agency

The United States and Greece announced in Athens $4 billion in military sales to support Athens’ long-term defense plans. Anadolu Agency reports, citing a joint statement by the US State Department.

Sixth Strategic Dialogue

The announcement came after the sixth US-Greece Strategic Dialogue, which was led in Athens by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis. The sides said the military sales are intended to support Greece’s defense plans and strengthen interoperability between the armed forces of the two countries.

Washington and Athens also plan to explore further cooperation between their defense industries, particularly in innovative technologies. They formalized Greece’s participation in the US National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program with the state of Florida.
