The U.S. will lift oil sanctions on Iran and provide $300 billion for the country's reconstruction — Mehr

Iran and the United States have reached an agreement on a 14-point framework for a peace deal, which calls for a cessation of hostilities, the lifting of oil sanctions, and the unfreezing of Tehran’s frozen assets

The document lays the groundwork for a major overhaul of the security and economic architecture in the Middle East.

The peace initiative includes strict timelines for both sides aimed at de-escalating tensions.

Washington commits to completely lifting the naval blockade of Iran and withdrawing its military forces from areas adjacent to the Islamic Republic within 30 days.

In addition, the U.S. side commits to not increasing the size of its military contingent in the region, not imposing new restrictions, and respecting Tehran’s sovereignty.

The economic portion of the agreement provides for significant financial benefits for Iran in exchange for the stabilization of shipping.

Within 60 days of the final negotiations, the U.S. must unfreeze $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds.

The most significant provision was the lifting of sanctions against the oil sector and the presentation of a plan for Iran’s recovery worth at least $300 billion from the U.S. and its allies.

Tehran, for its part, guarantees the safety of shipping and reaffirms its renunciation of nuclear ambitions. Within a month, the country will restore full operations in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

The republic’s authorities have also reaffirmed their commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and pledged to hold further negotiations to permanently lift UN Security Council sanctions.

The document establishes a clear sequence of actions to launch the final negotiation process.

High-level meetings will begin only after the U.S. side fulfills the initial requirements, specifically by unblocking half of the frozen funds and lifting the naval blockade.

At the same time, the parties deliberately excluded from the agenda discussions on Iran’s missile program and its financial and military support for proxy forces in the region.

This was reported by the Iranian news agency Mehr, citing sources close to the negotiation process.
