It has been revealed who convinced Trump to call off the strike on Iran — Politico
Leaders from a number of countries reportedly convinced U.S. President Donald Trump to refrain from striking Iran. They assured the American leader that a new international agreement with Iran is in the final stages of negotiation, which influenced his change of position.
Following the US leader’s public threats to strike Iran, representatives from the Persian Gulf and South Asian countries contacted him.
Trump received calls from the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani; the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Pakistan’s Minister of Defense, Asim Munir.
The politicians tried to dissuade the U.S. president from military escalation. During the conversation, they assured him that a preliminary agreement, paving the way for more detailed negotiations, had already been reached.
It was the leaders’ arguments that a peace deal was indeed close that forced Trump to change his mind and abandon plans to strike Iran.
