U.S. President Donald Trump could drag the United States into a new, protracted war with Iran—one that lacks clearly defined objectives and could have serious consequences.

The publication notes that Trump is increasingly speaking about the possibility of a large-scale use of military force against Iran, including strikes on bridges and energy infrastructure. According to the authors, such actions could raise questions regarding compliance with international humanitarian law.
