Trump refused to meet with Zelensky at the G7 summit – The Guardian
U.S. President Donald Trump will participate in the G7 plenary session in France, which will also be attended by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but he does not plan to hold a separate bilateral meeting with the Ukrainian leader.
The summit will take place June 15–17 in Evian in the French Alps, where the White House chief will hold separate talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as with the leaders of Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, and India. An American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Guardian, noting that the advance of Russian troops has effectively stalled for now, and the U.S. is seeking to end the war as quickly as possible.
The Ukrainian side was counting heavily on a separate, full-fledged dialogue, as Zelenskyy planned to personally discuss with Trump the imposition of new sanctions against Russia and determine the actual timeline for their implementation. According to the Ukrainian president, the final adoption of these restrictions depends entirely on the decision of the White House chief. On the eve of the international event, Zelenskyy also stated that Ukrainian forces had successfully struck several key targets deep within Russian territory, including the VNDIR Progress plant in Cheboksary, which manufactures components for missiles and drones.
