According to the publication, Trump may choose a journalist or one of his close associates for the position.
In particular, one source reported that Trump was advised to appoint Monica Crowley, who heads the protocol office and is an experienced conservative media figure. Another source suggested CNN commentator Scott Jennings, former Trump campaign press secretary Jason Miller, and former Trump adviser Alina Hubba.
Another potential candidate could be Hannah Kelly, one of Livitt’s deputies, who has taken on a wide range of responsibilities in the White House press office and has appeared several times on major television networks.
A number of people also suggested Katie Miller, a former administration official and the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. But a person close to the White House quickly dashed those expectations, stating bluntly, “That’s not going to happen.”
A second source close to the administration described Livitt’s departure as “unplanned,” adding:
“This is an extremely important matter for Donald Trump… he probably still has some time before he makes a decision. I think the White House will conduct a thorough search here.” So what does the overall situation look like? Meanwhile, the White House has not yet responded to questions about whether he has chosen a successor and whether cabinet members will serve in an acting capacity, as was the case during Livitt’s maternity leave.
