Trump has established the Superintelligence Task Force to coordinate U.S. policy on AI
On October 4, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of the “Super Intelligence Force.” The new agency will coordinate the federal government’s efforts in the field of artificial intelligence and its interactions with companies and other organizations.
The agency will be headed by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and will also include officials from the Pentagon, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Office of Personnel Management. The main task of the new agency is to ensure U.S. victory in the global technology race and prevent China from dominating a field that Trump compares in significance to the Industrial Revolution.
Trump emphasized that artificial intelligence surpasses the Industrial Revolution and the advent of the internet in terms of impact, so America must outpace China in this competition. The creation of the “Superintelligence Force” comes amid warnings from technology executives about the risks of rapid AI deployment; however, the U.S. president has rejected proposals to slow down development, viewing victory in this field as a key strategic objective.
