Trump said the influence of pro-Israel groups in Congress has diminished
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that pro-Israel lobbying groups no longer wield the same influence in Congress and Washington’s political circles as they did about 20–25 years ago. He made these remarks in a pre-recorded interview for the program “America Speaks” on the Real America’s Voice network, according to Al Jazeera English.
Host Wayne Allen Ruth asked Trump about what he called a “communist color revolution” in major U.S. cities. In response, the president said that he considers the situation surrounding Israel and the Jewish people to be the biggest change over the past decade.
According to Trump, two decades ago, the pro-Israel lobby was the most powerful in Washington. He also highlighted the Democrats’ positions in the House of Representatives, calling the changes “remarkable.”

His comments came after a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs, which, according to Al Jazeera, showed a significant decline in support for Israel in the U.S. The survey also pointed to growing opposition to Israel among Democrats and signs of polarization among the Republican electorate.
Trump has previously spoken about the decline in support for Israel in American politics. In September 2025, in an interview with the Daily Caller, he acknowledged that he was aware of the decline in support for Israel among young Republicans and stated that unanimous support for Israel in Congress was a thing of the past.
In a piece for Real America’s Voice, Trump also mentioned Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, whom the source describes as a consistent supporter of Israel. Similar remarks by Trump about Schumer in 2025 drew criticism from Jewish and Muslim groups, who viewed his use of the word “Palestinian” as a political slur.
