Trump Urges Using U.S. Cities as Military Training Grounds

President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gathered more than 800 top military leaders at a base in Virginia, where Trump declared that American cities should serve as “training grounds” for the army. He also criticized military leadership for being “too politically correct” and distracted from combat readiness.

During his address, Trump used a racial slur, saying, “There are two words you can’t use.” His remarks sparked outrage among generals and admirals present, though Trump insisted he was simply being blunt.

Hegseth, in his portion of the speech, attacked rules of engagement that he claimed limit U.S. forces in the field. He noted that early in his tenure he had fired the top lawyers for the Army, Navy, and Air Force in order to make the military “more aggressive” and less bound by international law.
