In Bashkortostan, streetlights have begun to be turned off due to unpaid electricity bills
In Bashkortostan, street lighting in the towns of the Ishimbay District has begun to be shut off due to significant electricity debt.
According to the power supplier “Bashelektrozbut,” the municipalities owe the company approximately 8.6 million rubles. As a result, all 13 village councils in the district—which encompass dozens of villages and settlements—may be affected by the restrictions.
The company stated that street lighting can only be restored after the debt is fully repaid, including accrued penalties and other charges.
It is noted that the debt for street lighting alone amounts to about 1.4 million rubles, while the remainder of the amount has accumulated due to unpaid bills from schools, kindergartens, and other municipal institutions.
At the same time, this is not the first instance of problems with street lighting in the region. Previously, in one of Bashkortostan’s cities, streetlights on certain streets were also turned off due to a lack of funds in the local budget.
