British police have released on bail five men who were detained near RAF Fairford Air Base on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack.
All of the detainees are British citizens between the ages of 23 and 25 who live in London.
Lawrence Taylor, head of the British counterterrorism police, emphasized that their release on bail does not mean the investigation has ended.
According to Reuters, citing a source, investigators are currently considering the possibility of Iranian involvement as the most likely scenario.

In the United Kingdom, near the Royal Air Force Fairford airbase—which U.S. forces use for operations against Iran—five men were detained on September 27 with homemade explosive devices on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack. The operation was carried out following a report of three suspicious vans heading toward the military airfield in western England during the night.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the suspects allegedly planned to cause “significant harm” and were the subject of an investigation by British and American authorities. At the same time, British counterterrorism police have not publicly disclosed details about the men’s possible motives.
