CJP says Ashutosh Ranka was detained by Assam police — Deutsche Welle
Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), said on social media platform X that police in the Indian state of Assam detained the party’s co-coordinator Ashutosh Ranka during his visit to the region. As Deutsche Welle reports, Ranka was in Assam to inspect local schools.
Criticism of the state authorities
Earlier, Ranka spoke with journalists in Assam and criticized the state’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He said that the regional leader allegedly fears publicity about the real condition of Assam’s schools.
The CJP co-coordinator also claimed that Sarma allegedly does not want information made public about, in his words, restrictions on the rights of Kaziranga residents and the transfer of water, forest and land resources to corporate allies of the authorities.

Claims about floods and constituency boundaries
Ranka also said that floods were allegedly artificially created in Assam, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people. He also raised the issue of the revision of electoral constituency boundaries in the state in 2023.
Critics of this process believe that it changed the demographic weight of voters. Ranka said that residents of one village voted in three different constituencies and claimed that the boundaries were allegedly redrawn to rig elections.
