In Yemen, government forces claim control of Karfan Mountain — Anadolu Agency
Yemen’s government forces said they had established full control over the strategic Karfan Mountain in the south of Taiz province after fighting with Houthi rebels. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing a representative of the defense structures.
Military command statement
According to the chief of staff of Taiz’s military command, Major General Abdulaziz al-Majidi, government units acted with the support of the popular resistance from Bani Omar. He said the forces had strengthened control over Karfan Mountain.
Al-Majidi also claims that more than five Houthi fighters were killed in the clashes, while about 20 others were wounded. According to him, the Houthis continued shelling military positions with mortars. Houthi representatives did not immediately comment on reports of the loss of territory.

Significance of the elevation
Karfan Mountain is located in a mountainous area on the Jardada–Bani Omar front, between the Ash-Shamaytayn and Al-Waziyah districts. Control over this elevation makes it possible to observe the adjacent valleys and control them with fire.
The offensive is taking place amid intensified fighting that, according to the outlet, has been changing the front lines since July. The source also reports recent Houthi advances along the western coast toward the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
