An unidentified drone was spotted near the Russian border in Finland — Yle
In the municipality of Lemi, located in the South Karelia region near the border with the Russian Federation, Finnish law enforcement agencies conducted a large-scale search operation.
This was officially reported by the Finnish national broadcaster Yle, citing information from local police.
Security forces attempted to locate an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle that had been spotted in the country’s airspace.
Despite the deployment of significant forces and a thorough search of the border area, the exact location of the aerial object could not be determined.
The immediate deployment of emergency control measures was prompted by a report from a civilian who noticed suspicious activity in the sky.
The search operation began after a local resident reported that he had likely seen an unidentified flying object.
Patrol crews and specialized experts were immediately dispatched to the site of the possible incident. The police investigated the incident but did not find the drone, so the active phase of the ground search was subsequently called off.
In parallel with law enforcement operations on the ground, the country’s military deployed combat aircraft to ensure the security of the state’s borders.
The Air Force conducted patrols over territories directly bordering Russia.
In addition, on Saturday night, Hornet fighter jets flew over southeastern Finland, conducting enhanced monitoring of the airspace.
