In Ghana, Deputy Interior Minister Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi on September 23, 2026, launched the “EU for a Secure Ghana” project, aimed at strengthening efforts against violent extremism, terrorism, organized crime, and the illicit trafficking of small arms and light weapons. MyJoyOnline reports.

Support for state institutions

According to Terlabi, the initiative aligns with Ghana’s security priorities. The project is intended to strengthen the capacity of state institutions to counter violent extremism and terrorism while respecting human rights and the rule of law.

It also provides support for measures against organized crime and arms trafficking. Communities, civil society organizations, and vulnerable groups are expected to be involved in conflict prevention.
