Japan seeks home for 13-year-old dog Mitsunaka — The Japan Times

In the Japanese city of Kawanishi, a new home is being sought for a 13-year-old dog named Mitsunaka, who came to the ARK organization after his owner fell ill. As The Japan Times reports, the dog weighs 13 kg and has a calm and reserved character.

A calm character

Mitsunaka was named after Minamoto no Mitsunaka, an influential and wealthy samurai associated with this area. The dog himself is gentle and rather reserved. He most enjoys dozing during the day, particularly in a sunny spot.

Mitsunaka also enjoys walks. When he sees a harness, he becomes quietly excited, and outside he is ready to walk for as long as he is allowed. The dog does not pull on the leash.

Searching for a new owner

The dog gets along normally with most other dogs, but because of his gentle nature, he sometimes becomes the target of their bullying. Mitsunaka is picky about food, enjoys human company, but is not intrusive. ARK hopes to find him a new family.

Animal Refuge Kansai has offices in the Kansai region and Tokyo and rescues and rehomes abandoned animals. All of the organization’s animals are vaccinated, sterilized, and microchipped, while potential owners undergo a screening procedure.
