In Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, investigators found a body described as mummified in a coffin beneath a concrete slab at a site linked to the Mercy of God Ministry. Cameroonian authorities are seeking Nigerian cleric Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, to assist the investigation.

Coffin beneath a concrete slab

As MyJoyOnline reports, police officers from the Nkoabang special police station found the body on September 19 at around 9:00 a.m. during an investigation connected to Kenechukwu. At a site in the Nkoabang area, they discovered a white-and-gold coffin buried at a depth of about 1.5 meters beneath a concrete slab.

The coffin contained a body initially believed to be female. The remains were dressed in traditional blue clothing with gold embroidery and, according to the outlet, appeared to have been deliberately preserved. The identity of the deceased and the circumstances of death have not yet been established.

Previous searches

The investigation began after residents damaged part of the site, drawing the attention of law enforcement. Cameroonian authorities are awaiting permission for further searches amid concerns that other remains may be found there.

During a search of the same site on September 9, investigators found five cars, several hundred kilograms of food, operating freezers, about 30 rooms, and a pit approximately two meters deep, MyJoyOnline reported. Earlier, on September 6, 20 people were found in the basement of another site linked to the ministry in the Ngousso area: 10 women, eight men, and two children aged six and seven.

Kenechukwu is the founder of Mercy of God Ministry and, according to the outlet, has been operating in Cameroon since 2018. According to the source, he is being sought in connection with suspicions involving human trafficking, kidnapping, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
