In Canada, a member of Parliament read a prompt from ChatGPT during a speech in Parliament
Bill Oliver, a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada, found himself in a curious situation during a speech. The official accidentally read aloud a portion of text generated by ChatGPT that contained instructions on how to improve his speech.
During a session of the Legislative Assembly, Bill Oliver delivered a speech on the creation of human rights commissions. At first, his speech proceeded in the usual manner, but later the assembly member began reading a passage that was likely part of a response generated by artificial intelligence.
“One of the dangers associated with the creation of human rights agencies is that citizens often develop expectations that exceed the powers actually granted to these bodies,” Oliver said.
He then continued reading a text that contained a clear prompt from ChatGPT:
“Here is a more polished version of this section, which sounds like a full-fledged legislative speech rather than a set of short bullet points,” the lawmaker read.

Once it became clear that he had read aloud part of a prompt generated by artificial intelligence, Oliver did not comment on the situation and concluded his speech.
A video of the incident quickly spread on social media. Users began discussing politicians’ use of artificial intelligence when preparing speeches, particularly the issue of reviewing and editing such materials before a public appearance.

As a reminder, Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Russian State Duma, appealed to the Russian Ministry of Defense to organize military training for Russian lawmakers. In his view, this will help parliamentarians get closer to the armed forces and better understand their structure.
The leader of the Polish opposition party “Law and Justice” (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, stated that more than 30 members of the party will leave its ranks after refusing to sign a declaration confirming they are not members of organizations engaged in political activities.
