UPS cargo plane crashes in Louisville, killing at least seven

At least seven people were killed when a UPS cargo plane crashed near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in Kentucky. The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 aircraft, bound for Honolulu, lost altitude shortly after takeoff and struck two nearby businesses before exploding into flames.

Governor Andy Beshear said a thick cloud of black smoke rose from the crash site as dozens of emergency crews rushed in. Some employees reportedly escaped through back windows, while others remain unaccounted for.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Officials confirmed there were no hazardous materials on board, but a one-mile shelter-in-place order was issued as firefighters continued battling the blaze late into the night.
