Navrotsky's team expressed doubts about Ukraine's desire to join the EU

Navrotsky's team expressed doubts about Ukraine's desire to join the EU

Marcin Przydacz, head of the Polish President’s Office for International Policy, stated that he has doubts about the Ukrainian government’s readiness for the country’s accession to the European Union. He also called the current Ukrainian government “kleptocratic.”

Przydacz made this statement while commenting on Ukraine’s prospects for European integration. His remarks have already caused a stir given the support Poland has provided to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.

In a provocative post, Przydacz expressed the view that Kyiv is escalating the Polish-Ukrainian conflict to divert attention from domestic problems.

“Has Ukrainian society ever stopped to consider whether its kleptocratic elites truly want to join the European Union? The overwhelming majority of ordinary Ukrainians undoubtedly aspire to this; they want to be part of the West (although a few years ago this was not so obvious), but do their corrupt oligarchic elites also aspire to this?” Przydacz noted.

On Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a draft law on the Ukrainian National Pantheon to the Verkhovna Rada, which is intended to honor distinguished Ukrainians.

“Of course, it’s easier to provoke and stoke historical tensions so as not to have to answer for the lack of reforms, the lack of an effective fight against corruption, the lack of real de-oligarchization, for the lack of real improvements for entrepreneurs, the absence of the rule of law, the lack of infrastructure improvements, and the absence of many other things that these elites have failed to achieve over the past three decades,” wrote the head of the Bureau of International Policy.

“Yes, Ukraine won’t join the EU with Bandera, Shukhevych, or Klyachkivsky, but do their leaders really want that, or are they just stringing along and deceiving their voters, who are becoming increasingly disillusioned with such a government?” asked Pshydach.
