Air raid alerts were issued twice in Latvia due to a drone
In several regions of Latvia, air raid alerts were issued twice on the night of August 31–September 1 due to a drone that violated the country’s airspace.
The first air raid alert was issued around 2:00 a.m. in the Ludza region due to a suspected aerial threat.
The alert was lifted at 2:25 a.m.
The second alert was issued around 4:00 a.m. in the Aluksne region. NATO fighter jets were also scrambled to that area.
At 4:20 a.m., the Latvian Armed Forces announced that the air raid alert had been lifted.
Military officials clarified that the drone, which had entered Latvian airspace, continued toward Estonia and left the country’s territory.
Thus, during the night, the Latvian military responded twice to an air threat, and NATO fighter jets were deployed to patrol the airspace.
