In Latvia, a man was sentenced to 11 years in prison for supplying Starlink to the Russian military
The Riga City Court has sentenced an Azerbaijani citizen to 11 years in prison for supplying equipment to the Russian army for use in the war against Ukraine.
This was reported by Delfi.
The court found him guilty of participating in an organized group with the aim of assisting a foreign state in undermining the territorial integrity and political independence of another state, as well as of violating EU sanctions.
In addition to the prison term, he was sentenced to three years of probation and deportation from Latvia with a five-year entry ban.
According to the investigation, the group organized the purchase and delivery to Russia of dozens of Starlink satellite internet kits, as well as other military-grade goods, including weapon parts and ballistic sensors. The total value of the transactions amounted to approximately 200,000 euros.
The other three defendants in the case—two Latvian citizens and one non-citizen—will be tried separately.
As a reminder, Latvia has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine ahead of the fourth anniversary of the resistance against Russia.
Latvia has also accused Russia of dragging out peace talks.
