Moldova has confirmed the visit of a Taliban delegation, but no official meetings are scheduled
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the arrival in the country of an Afghan delegation composed of representatives of the Taliban government. At the same time, the ministry stated that no official contacts with representatives of the radical Islamist regime are planned.
The delegation from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock arrived in Moldova to participate in events; however, its visit does not imply recognition of the Taliban government by Chisinau.
The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the delegation members had been granted entry visas and are not subject to international sanctions.
According to the ministry, the trip was initiated following consultations between local agricultural producers and the Ministry of Agriculture regarding the possibility of providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, which is facing a food security crisis.
At the same time, officials in Chisinau emphasized that Moldova does not recognize the “Taliban” government in Afghanistan.
“In this regard, we would like to note that no bilateral meetings or official contacts with representatives of the delegation will take place. The government has instructed officials to review the procedures for issuing invitations and visas, as well as internal procedures,” the Moldovan Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Earlier, the Taliban’s Supreme Leader issued an order banning the construction of windows in residential buildings that face areas used by Afghan women. In existing buildings, such windows must be blocked off.
The Taliban authorities have banned most female employees of humanitarian organizations from working, which, according to humanitarian workers, has made it more difficult to reach women in need and could lead to donors suspending funding.
