On September 1, a shootout occurred in the Dutch village of Overasselt, resulting in the death of one man from severe injuries and the wounding of two police officers, who were hospitalized. The armed conflict broke out after law enforcement officers arrived at a house following a report of suspicious activity, when a group of masked men opened fire on them.
Police detained 34 suspects, including citizens of the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and Algeria. According to prosecutors, the incident is linked to an ongoing conflict, as this same house was already the target of a shooting last year, for which two individuals were previously convicted.
