Search Underway in Germany for Wreckage of Second Drone Following Incident Involving Ukrainian Airplane
New details have emerged in Germany regarding the incident involving a Ukrainian cargo plane near Leipzig Airport. Law enforcement officials are continuing to search for fragments of a possible second drone that may have been involved in the collision with the aircraft.
After the incident, the plane landed safely at Hannover Airport, where experts found minor damage during an inspection. An investigation is currently underway to determine all the circumstances of the incident and the origin of the unknown object.
According to him, investigators are continuing to search for debris from a possible second drone. The Saxony State Criminal Police Office clarified that the search operations resumed the morning after the incident.
The day before, law enforcement officials reported that a drone carrying explosives had been found on the southern runway at Leipzig Airport near a Ukrainian An-124 transport aircraft.
Due to the runway closure, a DHL cargo plane was forced to climb again, after which, according to the investigation, it may have collided with a second unidentified flying object.
The plane landed safely in Hanover, where experts found minor damage. The investigation is ongoing, and police have not ruled out the possibility of sabotage.
