According to eyewitnesses, the corridors and exits were blocked by the rapid spread of thick, toxic smoke, trapping people in a deadly trap and forcing them to try to escape through the windows of the upper floors. Eight fire crews were quickly deployed to extinguish the fire. Local residents actively participated in the rescue and evacuation of victims alongside professional rescue services. According to Indian media reports, the victims and injured include foreign nationals who had come to New Delhi for medical tourism and treatment.
