Nearly 2,700 workers in the hotel and restaurant industry are on strike in Norway

In Norway, approximately 2,700 workers in the hotel and restaurant industry have gone on strike over a dispute regarding working conditions. The conflict has arisen between labor unions and employers and concerns, in particular, wage levels and sick pay.

This was reported by the Sweden Herald.

Negotiations between the parties broke down over the weekend, after which the protest was expanded. In the morning, about 1,000 more workers joined the strike.

According to the unions, a total of 2,668 people are participating in the strike.

“The strike will continue until a result is reached that satisfies the strikers,” said Christian Justnes, head of the trade union confederation.

At this time, the parties have not announced a date for the resumption of negotiations.

As a reminder, employees of the German airline Lufthansa will continue the strike on Thursday and Friday, leading to further widespread flight cancellations.

Starting Monday night, April 13, pilots from Germany’s largest airlines, including Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Eurowings, launched another wave of protests.

Qatar Airways has sharply increased the number of flights and, for the first time since the start of the conflict, operated 200 flights from Doha in a single day.
