In Pakistan, Lesco dismisses one official and suspends another — Dawn

In Pakistan, the administration of Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) dismissed Deputy Manager Shahzaib Bhutto and suspended Line Superintendent Farooq Junaid from duty in Kasur district. As Dawn reports, the decisions are related to violations of service rules and misconduct alleged by the company.

Internal inquiry

According to a Lesco representative, the charges against Bhutto were confirmed during an internal investigation. He was subsequently dismissed from his position as deputy manager, while also serving as an executive engineer.

In a separate decision, Lesco suspended Grade-I Line Superintendent Farooq Junaid from duty over alleged misconduct. Junaid was temporarily performing the duties of sub-divisional officer at the Lalyani subdivision in Kasur district.

Further procedures

For the period of his suspension, Junaid was attached to the office of the relevant district. Further internal procedures are to be held regarding him in accordance with the company’s rules and regulations.

A Lesco representative said the measures were taken on the instructions of the company’s chief executive officer, engineer Mohammad Ramzan Butt. The company said it would ensure discipline, transparency and impartial application of disciplinary measures to employees found guilty of negligence, misconduct or rule violations.
