Nearly 6 million people in Pakistan register for fuel relief program — Dawn
In Pakistan, about 5.91 million citizens have registered for the government fuel relief program, Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja said. According to her, more than 6.18 million assistance tokens have been generated since the program began, of which 4.79 million have already been used.
The minister made the statement at a press conference in Islamabad together with Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani. As Dawn reports, the program was introduced to provide targeted support to people most affected by rising fuel prices amid fluctuations in the global oil market.
Program terms
The program covers eligible two- and three-wheeled vehicles, including motorcycles, motor rickshaws and Qingqi vehicles, as well as cars with engines of up to 800 cubic centimeters.
Following feedback from citizens, the authorities removed the five-liter limit for motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqi vehicles. The requirement to own the vehicle was also removed for users of rented motorcycles and rickshaws.

Use of tokens in regions
The largest number of tokens was used in Punjab — 3.07 million. In Sindh, the figure was 1.21 million; in the Islamabad Capital Territory, 210,032; in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 267,460; and in Balochistan, 6,761. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 23,796 tokens were used, while in Gilgit-Baltistan, 4,845 were used.
A monitoring center at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications operates around the clock, overseeing the implementation of the program — from registration and token generation to their use. According to Khawaja, the authorities also hold about three meetings daily, monitor the work of filling stations through a GIS map, and make payments to gas stations within 24 hours.
