South Africa issues warning over severe thunderstorms in central regions — TimesLIVE
The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms in central parts of South Africa. The warning covers the North West province, Gauteng, the Highveld in Mpumalanga, southwestern Limpopo, northern Free State and the far northeastern parts of the Northern Cape province.
Risk of downpours, hail and strong winds
As TimesLIVE reports, weather conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms. They may be accompanied by intense downpours, damaging strong wind gusts, hail and excessive lightning activity.
The weather service also warned of possible localized flooding of vulnerable roads, low-lying areas and bridges.

Forecast for the provinces
Gauteng is expected to have cloudy and cold weather, while the far north will be cool, with rain and thunderstorms in places. Mpumalanga is forecast to have cloudy and cold weather with rain and thunderstorms in places; in the northern Lowveld, they will be isolated.
In Limpopo, isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible, becoming more widespread in the southwest and south-central areas. The North West province is expected to have cloudy, windy and cool weather with rain and thunderstorms.
In the Free State, it will be cold in the east, while other areas will be cloudy and cool. In the north of the province, isolated rain and thunderstorms may become more widespread. Clear and warm weather will prevail in the Northern Cape province, but variable cloudiness, isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible in the east.
