Poland is launching the process of drafting a new constitution

Work on drafting a new constitution is set to begin in Poland. Rafal Leszkiewicz, spokesperson for President Karol Nawrocki, announced that on May 3, the head of state will appoint members to a special council. This council will be responsible for developing amendments and drafting the country’s new constitution.

He told Polsat News about this.

The council will include delegates from parliamentary groups, experts, and representatives of various worldviews. The draft of the new constitution is to be presented before the end of Karol Nawrocki’s term, which expires in 2030.

"The president will form the council on the new constitution at the Royal Castle on Constitution Day, May 3. We are beginning the process of forming the council on the new constitution," said Nawrocki’s spokesperson.

On Thursday, invitations to join the council were sent to representatives of parliamentary factions and groups.

"We will also involve a group of experts, and this council will work on the draft of the new constitution," Leshkevich added.

Poland is preparing changes for sole proprietors; taxes may rise to 40%.

As a reminder, Poland previously updated the procedure for calculating sick leave benefits from ZUS, which will allow employees to receive higher payments. The new system also clarifies which types of activities affect the amount of sick leave benefits and which do not. This applies, in particular, to Ukrainian workers employed in the country under labor contracts.

Nearly 46% of Poles consider the threat of Poland leaving the European Union after the 2027 parliamentary elections to be unrealistic.
