Protest held outside parents’ home of Naza director in Savyon — Anadolu Agency
In Savyon, in central Israel, dozens of far-right activists protested on Wednesday evening outside the home of the parents of director Rachel Tzur. Together with Yuval Abraham, she made the documentary film “Naza.” Participants chanted slogans calling for the death penalty for traitors, Anadolu Agency reports, citing Israeli media.
Claims against the film’s creators
According to Walla, the protesters opposed Tzur and her co-director Abraham. Some participants claimed that the filmmakers portray Israeli military personnel as murderers before the world.
Israel Hayom, citing unnamed sources, reported that the organizers of the demonstration and many of its participants were activists and election campaign workers for the Jewish Power party. It is led by Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. Before the protest, messages containing direct calls for violence were circulated on social media, the outlet said.

Reaction of Israeli authorities
The action took place after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he intended to advance two bills targeting people whom he accused of denigrating Israeli soldiers. His remarks partly concerned the documentary “Naza.”
On Monday, Israel Defense Forces Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir instructed the military prosecutor to consider possible legal action against the film’s creators. On Wednesday, Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar, according to Israeli media reports, asked Shin Bet chief David Zini to urgently launch an investigation into the film.
On Saturday, “Naza” won the Special Jury Prize at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. The film contains testimony from Israeli officers and military personnel about alleged war crimes during Israel’s war in Gaza, including the burning of residential areas used as shelters and the killing of people during food distribution. According to the filmmakers, Naza is an abbreviation used by Israeli military intelligence to denote the expected number of civilian deaths resulting from an airstrike.
