Cryptocurrency scam worth $42 million exposed in the US via Discord
The US Department of Justice has charged 26-year-old Canadian Nathan Gowin with creating a fictitious fund called Gray Digital, through which he raised over $42 million. According to investigators, he presented investors with fake reports, claimed returns of 4384%, and asserted management of assets worth $1 billion, promoting himself on Discord as a “successful trader.”

Instead of actual investing, the funds were used to pay earlier investors and cover Gowin’s personal expenses. When the SEC launched an investigation, he attempted to forge documents and fraudulently secured $800,000 in loans from two banks.
Gowin was arrested in the United Kingdom on December 10. Prosecutors described the scheme as a “house of cards built on investors’ money.”
