Former President Robert Kocharyan was arrested in Armenia
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to place the country’s second president, Robert Kocharyan, under arrest for a period of two months. Kocharyan, who is considered a pro-Russian politician, will remain in custody pending further proceedings in the case.
The Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Sarkis Dadoyan, has been considering a motion filed by the investigating authority since yesterday to impose pretrial detention on Kocharyan. Overnight, Robert Kocharyan was transferred to a hospital on doctors’ orders, and the hearing continued without him.
“The Anti-Corruption Court (presided over by Judge S. Dadoyan) fully granted the investigator’s motion, and R. K. has been placed under arrest as a preventive measure,” Marina Ohandzhanyan reported.
It should be noted that Kocharyan faces charges of abuse of office, money laundering on an especially large scale, and accepting bribes on an especially large scale.
Robert Kocharyan is considered a personal friend of Vladimir Putin.

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, stated that the Kremlin currently has no plans to announce a mobilization after the fall elections. At the same time, he called for waiting until the end of the electoral process, hinting that the situation could change.
In Russia, authorities plan to impose fines for failure to comply with decisions made by regional leaders and operational headquarters regarding mobilization and meeting the army’s needs. The Russian government has submitted a corresponding bill to the State Duma for consideration.
