Unhealthy air quality recorded in all regions of Singapore
Singapore recorded unhealthy air pollution levels in all five regions. As of 06:00 on September 15, the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the central region stood at 154 — the highest reading in the country, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Readings in the regions
The northern region became the fifth in the country where air quality entered the unhealthy range: at 06:00, its PSI reached 104. This is the first time since September 2019 that unhealthy readings have been recorded simultaneously in all regions of Singapore.
On the PSI scale, a level from 101 to 200 is considered unhealthy. Readings from 201 to 300 are classified as very unhealthy, while those above 300 are hazardous.

Smoke from fires
Singapore's National Environment Agency (NEA) said that moderate and dense smoke plumes from fires in Kalimantan moved toward the country because the prevailing wind direction shifted to east-southeast. Haze from southern Sumatra was also reaching Singapore.
In its daily haze advisory released on September 14, the NEA forecast that the 24-hour PSI would range from high-moderate to mid-unhealthy levels. The agency also expected dry conditions in Singapore and the surrounding region in the coming days and noted that, due to southeasterly and east-southeasterly winds, the country would likely be affected by haze.
On September 4, the PSI in Singapore's central region exceeded the unhealthy threshold for the first time since 2023. After that, the NEA began publishing daily haze advisories.
