University of Nicosia announces free blockchain course — Cyprus Mail
The University of Nicosia in Cyprus has announced enrollment for autumn 2026 in a free online course on blockchain and digital assets. The course, launched in 2014, has since attracted more than 150,000 learners from over 120 countries, Cyprus Mail reports.
Two learning formats
The program offers a free eight-week introductory track and an advanced track covering weeks 9–12 of the program, which costs €199. In the introductory track, learners will study the fundamentals of blockchain, Bitcoin and digital money, Ethereum and programmable blockchains, crypto wallet security and privacy, decentralized finance, prediction markets, the geopolitics of cryptocurrencies, tokenization, and stablecoins.
Participants in the free track will have weekly quizzes, question-and-answer sessions, a final exam, a certificate of completion, and access to UNIC’s global student community. Fifty Trezor Model T hardware wallets will be raffled among learners who pass the final exam.

Advanced track and scholarships
The advanced track will cover NFTs and digital ownership, digital asset regulation and policy, blockchain scaling and design trade-offs, as well as the combination of blockchain technologies with artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. Every learner who successfully completes this track will receive a Trezor Model T hardware wallet and a certificate verifiable via blockchain.
Cardano will provide 25 sponsored places on the advanced track, each worth €199. Ripple will also provide five scholarships covering 50% of the tuition cost for UNIC’s MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program; each is worth €7,400.
The course will be taught by Professor George Giaglis, Dr. Apostolos Kourtis, and Dr. Lambis Dionysopoulos. Representatives of the Cardano Foundation, Masumi Network, Ripple, Trezor, and Team1, affiliated with Avalanche, will join guest lectures.
