Rescuer lowered by winch

Rescue services decided that evacuation using a winch would be the safest option. A specialist was lowered from the helicopter onto the truck and secured the man in rescue equipment. He was then taken to the nearest shore.

Pilot Rich Dickner told CBS News that the truck had tipped onto its side and the man was on top of it. According to him, the water level rose from below the truck’s window to the top of the window, so the situation required swift action. The Arizona Fire & Medical Authority told People that the man was about 30 feet from shore.
