In Israel, families of Hamas attack victims present ‘October 7 Files’
In Tel Aviv, Israel, survivors of the Hamas attack on October 7, relatives of victims and other affected people presented a collection of documents and reports, the “October 7 Files.” The initiative’s participants called for an investigation into the circumstances of the attack and for those responsible for decisions that, in their view, preceded the tragedy to be identified.
As The Jerusalem Post reports, the presentation took place during a press conference. Shelly Mashal Yogev, the mother of Libby Cohen Meguri, who was killed at the Nova music festival, said that the greatest catastrophe in the State of Israel has still not been investigated. She placed responsibility on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and claimed that he had been warned by Israel’s Shin Bet security service.
Demands for an investigation
Einav Zangauker, the mother of Matan Zangauker, whom the publication calls a former hostage in Gaza, demanded an explanation of why significant funds had been transferred for many years when it was known that Hamas controlled the territory, as well as how the authorities responded to warnings. She accused the government of trying to avoid responsibility for the circumstances that preceded October 7.

Natalia Casarotti, Keshet’s mother, said that the investigation should include the prime minister, the defense minister, the Israel Defense Forces chief of staff, the opposition, Mossad, Shin Bet and the National Security Council. According to her, everyone whose guilt is established should be imprisoned.
Criticism of government policy
Professor Ephraim Shoham, the father of a serviceman who was killed in Gaza, criticized Netanyahu for Hamas not having been destroyed. He said that the prime minister had previously promised to overthrow the group, but over the years, according to him, had instead contributed to strengthening it, including through fund transfers.
Meirav Svirsky, whose parents were killed in Kibbutz Be’eri and whose sister, Itay Svirsky, was among the hostages, claimed that the authorities ignored warnings, including those related to the “Jericho Wall” plan. Michel Iluz, the father of the deceased hostage Guy Iluz, said that answers about the circumstances of the tragedy could only be obtained after a state commission of inquiry is established.
