The Foreign Ministry stated that Sibiga will not be traveling to Gdańsk either
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga will not personally attend the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), which will take place in the Polish city of Gdańsk.
The ministry explained that the format of this year’s event does not require the foreign minister’s presence, as the focus has shifted to practical aspects of cooperation.
According to representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Polish side and the event organizers have focused on areas beyond traditional diplomacy.
The main topics of the conference will be governmental, economic, security, infrastructure, humanitarian, and business issues.
Ukrainian diplomats and relevant experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were involved in preparing the agreements, but the minister herself will not attend the summit.
The Ukrainian delegation to the conference will be led by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.
“This year, the Ukrainian side is participating in the event at the highest government level, under the leadership of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Our goal is to avoid unnecessary politicization of this international event and to focus on pragmatism and concrete decisions in support of Ukraine and Ukrainians at a time when this is particularly necessary—in the fifth year of Russia’s full-scale aggression,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry noted that preparations for the event were extensive, so they expect the conference to yield significant practical results.
Despite Andriy Sybiga’s absence, the Ukrainian side is actively working to ensure that the summit serves as a platform for tangible solutions.
